St. Patrick’s Day will be on March 17th this year. Since that is a Thursday, many holiday celebrations will be taking place on March 12th instead. The holiday was originally meant to celebrate St. Patrick’s converting many Irish people to Christianity hundreds of years ago. The holiday became more widespread as Irish Immigrants moved to the United States. The holiday celebrations shifted focus to Irish nationalism and celebrating Irish heritage around this time.
