With spring almost here, it’s time to start thinking about some great outdoor activities. Of course, all of these day-trip ideas are located right here in Oklahoma. All of the activities below are family-friendly and inexpensive or free to enjoy.

Take a Scenic Hike

On the map, Oklahoma might seem flat, but there are plenty of hills and hiking trails for anyone to enjoy. There are so many great hiking trails to pick from. One of the best has to be the mountain trail in the Robber’s Cave State Park, located in Latimer County. This trail is just over three miles long. Of course, you can turn back whenever you like.

Most of the terrain is easy enough for all ages to walk on. However, it can become slightly more dangerous after it rains. This trail has a lot of wonderful views, including some great pieces of forest, cliffs, and a small lake. It is perhaps most beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing color, but it is green and vibrant in the spring.

Craft Fair

It’s always fun to check out a local craft fair! Craft fairs are in many locations around Oklahoma. There seems to be one about every weekend! All of these craft fairs have their own themes and vendors. This means that no two are alike! Many of our vendors, including Boy Mom Vibes, also attend these craft fairs. By shopping at these shows, you can support local businesses and see unique products. Below is a shortlist of just some of the craft fairs you can attend this upcoming April (2022).

  • April 2, Dewey Vendor Event, Washington County Fair Grounds
  • April 16, Wanderlust Pop Up Shop, OK Wheeler Ferris Wheel
  • April 23, OKC Spring Flea Market, OK OKC Fairgrounds

Games and Snacks

If you are not a very outdoorsy person, but still want to find something fun to do for a day, then try finding a board game cafe. These shops are becoming more popular. One of our favorites, the Trek Coffee Company, is located in Washington, Oklahoma. Trek is also one of our new vendors! At their shop, you can order coffee and snacks, and enjoy them in the lobby while playing board games with your friends and family.

If you aren’t a fan of board games, but love video games, then there are a few other places around the state you can check out. The Level Up Arcade is a classic video game arcade with vintage games. It’s in Guthrie. If you are looking for something a little more modern, then Brickopolis Entertainment in Oklahoma City might be more your speed.

With all of these options, both indoors and out, how are you going to spend your spring weekends?
