Father’s Day is coming up on Sunday, June 19! With the holiday right around the corner, now is a good time to plan something special to do with your dad or buy a present. Below are some great gift and activity ideas that dads of any age are sure to enjoy.

A Movie and Snacks

As a kid, going to the movies was always the first thing to do on Father’s day. Oklahoma is home to more than its fair share of movie theaters. According to the AMC theatre’s website, some of the movies that will be available on Father’s Day include Lightyear, a Buzz Lightyear origin story; and Jurassic World Dominion, another in the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World series. Some theaters may also have 3D showings of one or both of these movies.

While you can buy candy at the movies, that is super expensive. While we’re not saying that you should sneak candy into the movies, we also won’t tell on you if you do. Some of our favorite treats for dads has to include the J&J Critters microwaved pork rinds. While these will need to be made before you go to the movies, they are going to be the freshest pork rinds you can get anywhere. If you are looking for drinks, try the Healthy Cravings coffee or one of our other great coffee vendors.

Father’s Day Festival

For dads with small kids, going to the Father’s Day Festival in Scissortail Park, Oklahoma City, is a great and FREE way to spend the day. The Festival starts at 11:00 a.m. and goes until 3:00 p.m. Many of the family events (games, music, etc) are totally free to enjoy. The only thing visitors need to pay for is food and anything bought from vendors. While this event will be the most fun for dads with small kids, the event is open to people of all ages.

Oklahoma River Cruise

Dads with adult kids are likely going to want to do something more than going to the park, so why not check out the Oklahoma River Cruise? Passengers will board the ship at 1:15 p.m. and the boat will set sail at 1:30 p.m. While on the boat ride, passengers will get to enjoy the beautiful scenery around the Oklahoma River. Snacks and a cash bar will also be available. Tickets cost $30 and must be purchased in advance.

These are just some of the events going on in Oklahoma on Father’s Day, but we think they are also some of the best events going on. Try one or try them all. Let us know what you chose to do!
