Easter 2022 is on Sunday, April 17. The holiday is usually celebrated by Christians but also has some secular aspects as well. Those who want to celebrate Easter in a religious way can check out this list of churches that are offering both in-person and online streaming worship services. This article is going to focus on more secular Easter activities that anyone, regardless of religion or lack thereof, can enjoy.

Check Out the Easter Train Ride and Egg Hunt

Possibly one of the coolest events going on during Easter weekend is the Easter train ride and egg hunt, which is hosted by the Oklahoma Railway Museum in Oklahoma City. The event as a whole takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.ย

There will be several train ride times throughout the day. After the train ride (which kicks off the event), children will be able to search for eggs on the museum grounds. Children can also enjoy jumping in a moon bounce! People of all ages can try their hands at mini-golf and check out the museumโ€™s model train and exhibits as a whole. Customers are encouraged to buy tickets in advance.

Go to an Easter Egg and Scavenger Hunt

There are plenty of Easter egg hunts going on in Oklahoma but there arenโ€™t many that are actually taking place on Easter. Luckily, the Soggy Bottom Trails & Pub in Wanette is putting on one that takes place from noon until about 2:00 p.m. This event is free for children ages 15 and younger.ย

The egg hunt starts at noon and the scavenger hunts follow at 1:00 p.m. The winner will get a prize basket full of candy and other goodies. There will also be several arts and crafts activities. While currently undecided as of March 29, 2022, the Easter Bunny may also be at the event! There may also be an Easter hayride. What we know for sure is that the event is going to be fun and family-friendly, even though it is being hosted by a pub.

Celebrate at Home

If you donโ€™t feel like going out, there are many things that you can do at home. One classic activity is to make Easter baskets. These are usually filled with candy and other treats and toys. All of these things are generally great for kids. However, you may want to try something different if you are making a basket for an adult. Check out some of our vendors who sell candles, scents, jewelry, and mugs. One of our featured vendors this month is Pioneer Scents.

Making dinner at home is another way to bond as a family and celebrate. Serving ham and vegetables, similar to a Thanksgiving dinner, is customary. Of course, there are no rules as to what you can serve. Some of our vendors have some great spice mixes you can try out. If you want something really original, try Red Cornโ€™s fry bread mix to make a quick side. No one else is likely to bring this to the dinner!ย

If you want a really busy weekend, you can manage to go to all of these events! Whether you are a Christian celebrating for religious reasons or just celebrating for fun, these activities are great for everyone.ย
