School is back in session and autumn is nearly on our doorsteps. While we soon get to enjoy cooler weather, fewer bugs, and fabulous fall colors, it’s also come time to dread the start of cold and flu season. With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we need to be as careful as possible to prevent the spread of germs and disease. Luckily, there are many things we can do to protect ourselves and others from the cold, flu, and even Covid-19.

Wear a Mask

Wearing a mask doesn’t just help to prevent the spread of Covid-19, but other airborne and contagious diseases. According to the Mayo Clinic, wearing a mask can help to prevent the spread of influenza types A and B. You can wear a mask to prevent yourself from getting sick from many diseases. If you are already sick, wearing a mask helps to slow the spread. Someone else is much less likely to catch a cold or flu from you if you wear a mask. If you are not sure if you are sick or not, wear a mask in public, just to be safe.

Clean Regularly

Regularly cleaning the surfaces in your home is a great way to kill germs. It does not matter much (as far as germ-killing goes) whether you use all-natural or chemical products. However, using all-natural products will be better for your health, as you will not be inhaling chemicals. If possible, try to wipe down the frequently touched surfaces in your home at least once a day to keep your home as germ-free as possible.

On the same note, make sure to clean yourself regularly as well. This mostly refers to washing your hands or using hand sanitizer. Do this whenever you touch something that many other people may have touched. This includes public doorknobs, keyboards, toilets, and shopping carts.

Boost Your Immune System

There is not just one right way to boost your immune system. No matter how strong or weak your immune system is, there is always something you can try. Having a good diet and exercise routine is one of the best ways to keep yourself in peak shape. Taking vitamins and minerals are wonderful ways to supplement a diet.

The use of elderberries (in jams, syrups, gummies, and more) has been helping people boost their immune systems for literally centuries. This lesser-known purple berry is full of anti-oxidants. Using it regularly can help to reduce inflammation as well. You can buy premade elderberry products and supplements in most stores that sell supplements. You can also find a great kit for making your own elderberry syrup in our store.

If you follow these tips this cold and flu season, you will be less likely to fall ill. Do you have any tips or home remedy ideas on how to reduce the risk of catching a cold or the flu? If so, leave a comment below!
